Can YOU Help with a Food or Household Supplies Wish?

Tuesday, July 26th, 2011

There is a current wish on Ewishingwell.com. It reads “In Need of Food and Household Supplies”.

Here is this young mother’s story, included in her wish:

“Hi, I am a mother of six children. I work three jobs to support my family. I’ve come across tough times and my babies are out of diapers and wipes. We are out of food and almost all household supplies. I was hoping there would a kind person to help my family in need. Any donations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and god bless.”

Here is the link to the listing directly on Ewishingwell, in case you can help with something:

Need Food and Household Supplies

I am very happy I was able to help by granting 2 wishes for this family. What can you do to help? It doesn’t have to necessarily be big, anything would help them in their time of need. Even if it is a little something to pick up their spirits.

Please look through your good condition stuff and see if there is something you could part with. Then I suggest contacting this user to see if they could use it. You never know, it might be something they really need.

Thanks everyone! Let me know if you were able to help, post a comment below. I just love success stories!

Can You Help This Earth Hero and his Mother with Their Wish?

Wednesday, June 8th, 2011

One of our Ewishingwell users posted a Wish today for some gift cards to some of their favorite window shopping stores. Please read their story below in our user’s own words. (I didn’t want to change one word, so I posted it completely.) The Ewishingwell listing didn’t provide enough space for the whole story. What’s an Earth Hero…you’ll find out if you read the next paragraph?

“Alex LOVES the beach and our Favorite place is www.fskmotel.com, I call it “alex friendly” because my son can be himself without the stares from others! Does my heart good! I used to be able to take my son there. Due to overwhelming water bill/housing bills/necessities, I cannot. My son has been through so much, he asks me for nothing ever! Hello everyone, I am a single mom with a beautiful son with Autism. We are on a very fixed income and Alex is my Earth Hero he LOVES www.fskmotel.comin Ocean City Maryland i’m excited just typing it:) its a guarantee smiles from Alex place:) Alex loves the pool, the boardwalk, merrygoround, pizza:) “brown popcorn” which is carmel corn:) Alex is a true joy and you would never know all he has been through because he never ever complains. Alex has asthma, Brochial Pulmonary Dysplasia, Osteopenia, Cowden’s syndrome which is a disease where Alex Godforbid wasn’t born with the proper proteins to protect him against Thyroid, colon and breast cancer. Last August Alex had his thyroid removed which had 5 large nodules taking the place of his thyroid removed. We live on $674 a month. My son was born at 26 weeks and spent 3 months in Christiana Hospital and another 3 months at AI Dupont Hospital for Children he came home at 6 months old. Before I developed severe preclampsia I used to work for a bank as a Senior Secretary. Alex was delivered by an Emergency C-Section and came home with 14 medicines, 16 hours of nursing, full oxygen, nebulizer treatments, 2 apnea monitors, pulse-ox machine, feeding tube surgically in his stomach. My son is my hero and you would never know how much he has been through. I was told by “educators and doctors’ “Alex will never go to school, eat on his own, breathe on his own, talk, ect. Alex is doing all the above and more! Once Alex was stable and in school i was stricken with Sarcoid and then secondary pigment glaucoma, arthritis, asthma, DVT(blood clots) neuropathy, cervical spine damage and more. Due to my illness I cannot work at all. Thank you and God Bless in advance to everyone! Please help me get Alex to FSK Thank you! Any amount truly adds up and that would truly be awesome if I can get him there with your help:)

But then I thought oh my gosh Alex and I need things, things that so many take for granted because its already in their lives, like clothes and curtains, house things ect, puzzles – things to make life less stressful.”

After realizing this fact, that’s when her wish listing turned into the following:

“Hi! I am a single and proud mom to a young man with Autism and other medical conditions. I have Sarcoidosis and asthma and was recently diagnosed with DVT(blood clots). We love Walmart and since we are very low income my money goes to bills so looking nice and feeling good about it doesn’t happen often. Needed are gift cards for summer clothing, shoes, curtains for privacy (live inner city) swim trunks, lamps, ect from Walmart, Kmart, Target our favorite stores where we love to windowshop but to be able to buy something for us would be amazing! We bring in less than $8,088 a year:( Thank you in advance! I am so excited to know there is a site like this. When I could I love helping others and one day I know I will be able to (praying) but to know there are people helping people I love that!”

Be Careful What You Wish For – Do Wishes Backfire?

Monday, May 9th, 2011

Have you ever heard the phrase, “Be careful what you wish for because it might come true?” Most of us have heard it at least once in our lifetime. Have you stopped to think about it before you make a wish? I have to admit, I never have. Have you ever had a wish backfire on you? I certainly have. Maybe if I stopped to think about my wish before making it, they wouldn’t have backfired on me. Therefore, really think about your wish. Is it going to make the situation better or worse?

Be Careful What You Wish For Sign

Be Careful What You Wish For

This phrase reminds me of two scenes in two different movies. The first movie is Bedazzled (2000 version) and Disney’s Darby O’Gill and the Little People (1959).

In Bedazzled, the main character Elliott makes the following wish. He wants to be rich and powerful with his love interest, Alison as his wife. The wish is granted. The next scene in the movie, shows him as a Colombian drug lord with his wife, Alison who despises him. She is cheating on Elliott with his co-worker who plans to get rid of him. His co-worker will take over his position and property. When Elliott made his wish, he neglected to include that Alison love him. All the wishes backfire on Elliott. He doesn’t consider all the details when he makes his wishes. I always laugh when I see that movie.

In the second movie, Darby O’Gill and the Little People one of Darby’s wishes backfires on him as well. Darby wishes that two characters in the movie can see the King of the Leprechauns. Be careful what you wish for…sure they saw the King all right. However, he showed himself as a rabbit, so Darby appeared to be losing his mind.

How many of you have wished to win the lottery? Have you ever heard lottery winners say it was the worst thing that ever happened to them? They lose family, friends, get divorced, become the victim of crimes, and even kill themselves. If you have no idea how you are going to handle that kind of money, is it a curse or a blessing? Be careful what you wish for…because it might come true.

Winning the Lottery

Wishing to win the lottery.

Have you wished for a bigger house? How can that possibly be a bad thing? Have you thought about the increase costs from owning a bigger home, such as increased heating bill, electricity bill, property tax bill and the maintenance? You might wish for a bigger home, but are you prepared for the bigger cost to own it. Be careful what you wish for…because it might come true.

Here’s another common wish, a new car. How can that possibly backfire? Ever heard of a lemon? No, not the sour fruit, but the sour automobile. What if your older vehicle was more reliable and didn’t cost as much to drive (such as insurance, gas consumption, and repair parts). Be careful what you wish for…because it might come true.

However, your wish might be the best thing that ever happened to you, if you are prepared for it. How do you prepare for it? Know what you are wishing for and don’t just make a casual, off the top of your head wish. Because you never know, your wish might come true…so be careful what you wish for.

What do you think? Have any wishes backfired on you? Please leave a comment below, I’d love to read them.

Real Wishes Anyone?

Thursday, May 5th, 2011

Does anyone make Real Wishes? What exactly makes a wish real? How do you know if you are making a real wish?

19049421

Wishing for a Real Wish?

Is wishing for intangible objects making a real wish? These are things such as world peace, love, more wishes, fairies to carry you away, and happiness.

Is love a real wishIs peace on earth a real wishReal wishes for love

Are wishes for intangible objects real wishes?

Or do only wishes for tangible objects count as real wishes? These are things like cars, money, lovers, and houses.

Real Wishes for houses Real wishes for cars Real wishes for money

Are wishes for tangible objects real wishes?

What do real wishes mean to you? When you make wishes, what do you like to wish for: intangible or tangible things? Or do you wish for a mixture of both?

I believe any wish you make is a real wish. After all, you are a real person, it is a real idea you thought about, and it is your real desire. In my book, every wish is a real wish, no matter if it is made for an intangible or tangible thing. Go on and get your wishes on!

What do you think about the questions in this article? How would you answer them? I would love to know your thoughts, please leave your answers in the comment section below, so we can all read them.
